A striking waterfront sitting pretty on Lake Michigan is how the picturesque beauty of Chicago, Illinois can best be depicted. Even though the city boasts of lovely museums, good restaurants, and striking architecture, yet the city is often blamed to suffer from an inferiority complex to New York.

So if you have decided to visit Chicago and make this a fantastic trip then you should look for great Chicago Hotels to ensure that your Chicago trip will be memorable time for you.

Chicago is known for its fine museums, which makes up a major chunk of its tourist attractions. There’s also the “Museum Campus” located south of Grant Park on the Lake Shore Drive.

You should definitely be at the Field Museum of Natural History if you are fond of dinosaurs. The Museum boasts of the Tyrannosaurus Rex “Sue”, which is the best preserved and the largest most complete specimen of this extinct animal. The Evolving Planet exhibit will let you know some very interesting and important facts pertaining to ancient life form on earth as well as about ancient Americans.
Next there is the Shedd Aquarium and the Adler Planetarium on the museum campus that makes for an interesting visit.

The Adler Planetarium is also the oldest planetarium in America. There are a number of museums all around the city and if you intend to visit them all or many of them, its best to go for a City Pass or a Go Chicago Card that entails the holder a visit to all these museum. Also one can get good bargain price for these cards if properly checked out.

However, its not only museums that make up Chicago as there are a lot of other things that you can do while in this city. You’ll like to walk along the lake through Grant Park from where you can reach the Millennium Park. The beauty that beholds during this walk would indeed be a treat to the eye.

Millennium Park is at the center of downtown. Having reached here, the sight of the Jay Pritzker Pavilion would sure hold your attention a while. The most state-of-the-art concert venue in the US, the Jay Pritzker Pavilion is the venue of many a free concert and events. The park also has the “interactive crown fountain”. Surrounding the fountain are huge 50-feet tall glass towers that depict video images of Chicagoans getting wet in the shower. A shallow reflecting pool exists between the fountain and these towers where kids have a fun time playing. The park also holds the famous sculpture – Cloud Gate – a shiny elliptical structure where the cloud and the city’s famous sculpture gets reflected.

Then there is the Navy Pier. This is one of the most visited tourist spots of “The Windy City” and offers boat trips across Lake Michigan as well as other interesting activities and dining facilities. The trip should take an entire day or two to be really enjoyed. Start the trip from the Family Pavilion where you can have the map of the pier and can choose the direction you wish to take for the trip.

You would sure enjoy the sight of the ferris wheel or the old carousel. There’s a miniature golf course as well. It gives a touch of the olden times in carnival spirit for a visitor. Stop by at the Beer Garden for a brew break and relax with the live music. The Stained Glass Museum is another must visit.

Chicago has its share for the sports lovers too. Baseball is one of the most important games for the locals here, with there being two rival teams – the Cubs and the Sox. Of these, the Cubs play at the famous Wrigley Field. Then we have the Bulls team playing basketball and the Bears play American football. Football or soccer as the name goes is played by Fire and hockey by the Blackhawks and Wolves.

The Hyde Park neighborhood houses President Obama and is naturally one of the most famous and flocked place in Chicago now. One could get a guided tour from many tour operators that will take you to this place. There are also free walking tours available with volunteer guides to see you through or you can even pick up a map and do the tour at your own pace.

So Chicago holds not only prehistoric animals and museums but also other interesting aspects which makes a visit to this city a complete package.
