You should plan a trip to the United States of America at leisure. The sheer extent of the country from the east coast to the west covers six time zones, so you better not be hurried for time. If you think that stretching yourself farthest, you could probably cover ten vacation destinations in US, you will be doing pretty well for yourself.

There was a time when New York in the east and San Francisco in the west was all that visitors thought of top vacation destinations in US. In a connected world as of today, everyone is more informed and you sure would not like to spend all your time in these two places; there are other great top vacation destinations in US waiting to be discovered.

Let’s have a look at top ten vacation destinations in US starting from the west coast with San Francisco. The Californian sunshine moulds this city in gold and the Golden Gate Bridge, one of the architectural marvels looks imposing during the day and seductive by night. You could navigate the world’s ‘crookedest’ street by driving down the Lombard Street on Russian Hill. The Fisherman’s Wharf is always in party mode with Pier 39, the Cannery and fresh seafood restaurants.

Then let’s move to Los Angeles, the City of Angels. The very sight of “HOLLYWOOD” on the hill, will get you as excited as your guided tour around the Universal Studios. An entire day can be spent in savoring the bonhomie at Disneyland.

From all the family fun, you can move on to Las Vegas for some not-so-serious gambling at the slot machines in the jazzy casinos lining The Strip. Outside of the casinos and hotels as well as inside them at night, the lights will manage to dazzle and you will wonder what keeps the energy at such high level 24×7. There is never a boring moment in Las Vegas: A gondola ride at The Venetian, the Grand Canal Shoppes, Danny Gans at Encore, Caesar’s Palace, Madame Tussaud’s, MGM Grand, Harrah’s, the White Tigers at the Mirage, lights and dancing fountains at the Bellagio, The Mystere (Cirque de Soleil) at Treasure Island, the Hawaiian Marketplace and a picture with Siegfreid and Roy (world renowned illusionists). There are plenty of free shows to catch as you stroll down the Strip. Also from Las Vegas, you could take a helicopter tour to the Grand Canyon and Hoover Dam.

Then off we go to Denver, Colorado. Denver is a lot child-friendly with Denver Zoo, City Parks, Rocky Mountain National Park, Water World, Lakeside Amusement Park and Boondocks Fun Center. If you are interested in museums, you could visit the Museum of Natural History. Take a ride on the Platte River Trolley and drop by the Downtown Aquarium. In winter, you can try your hand at skiing and snow boarding.

Seattle, Washington is more cloudy than rainy, but it has its fair share of sunny days. The ample greenery is perfect for hiking and the Puget Sound is a must for sailing. You could see the Space Needle (from a 1962 World Fair), the original Starbucks and Bill Gates’ House. The Seattle Center houses the Children’s Museum, the Aquarium and the Waterfall Garden. The Olympic range, the Cascade Mountains and the Mount Rainier on a clear day, add to its beauty.

Want to get an overview of Chicago, Illinois? The entire Chicago land expanse is yours to see from the John Hancock Observatory and Sears Tower Sky-deck. The Navy Pier is Chicago’s most visited attraction and you would not miss the 150 ft Ferris-wheel and the 18-hole Chicago themed musical golf course. There is also the Field Museum of Natural History, the Adler Planetarium and some shopping to be done at the Magnificent Mile.

Be it summer or winter, a beach lover will always be drawn to Miami Beach, Florida. The trendy South Beach, the Bal Harbor Beach and the Crandon Park Beach are to be enjoyed. Take a tour of the South Beach Art Deco District, the Miami Carnival Center, the Domino Park and the Everglades National Park. The Miami Duck Tour is both on wheels as well as on cruise and sure is fun.

Then, how can you miss the capital of capitals, Washington, D.C.? Visit the Smithsonian, explore Mt. Vernon and take a walking tour of Georgetown- the historic waterfront. Take a tour of the national monuments and museums like the Jefferson Memorial, D.C. War Memorial and Lincoln Memorial. You cannot afford to miss the three imposing buildings- U.S. Capitol Building, the White House and the U.S. Supreme Court.

Boston, Massachusetts is one of the most historic, wealthy and influential top vacation destinations in the U.S. and the largest city in New England. The cradle of American civilization, it sees 16.3 million tourists every year. Home of Harvard, MIT and Cambridge, Boston is also the home of Major League Baseball’s Boston Red Sox. You could walk the historic Boston Freedom Trail and visit the Museum of Science for its virtual fish tank, IMAX theatre and planetarium. The Museum of Fine Arts has an enviable collection of Claude Monet’s paintings. Visit Sam Adam’s brewery for a look at the beer-making process and Cheers Boston (The Bull and Finch Pub) for souvenirs and great pub food.

And now for New York, whose streets give you an out-of-the-world feel, unparalleled elsewhere. Let me just name the places you could visit: Times Square, the Empire State Building, the Central Park, the Wall Street, the Rockefeller Center, the Ground Zero Museum, the Museum of Natural History, the Museum of Modern Art, Radio City Music Hall and Carnegie Hall. Take a boat ride to the Statue of Liberty and catch a Broadway play. For shopping, it could not get better than Saks 5th Avenue, FAO Schwartz, Macy’s NY, Bloomingdale’s and Tiffany’s.
