Packing Methods For Your Luggage

Learn More About the Right Packing Methods for Your Luggage

If you pack systematically and in the most efficient way, you’ll surely be able to pack more things in. But you might be wondering on how you would be able to do it, and what packing method you need to apply?

We often think that most travelers develop their own skills of packing over time, and as soon as you have more experienced in packing, you will begin to realize what method works for you, and you will be able to get better and better each time you need to pack for a trip. This way you can pack faster because you are accustomed which saves you more time to check on other things.

We always hear people say that rolling your clothes before packing is one of the best ways into keeping these clothes from wrinkling. Thing is, this method never worked for us. It is probably because of the way we roll them. A lot of our backpacker friends would swear by this method of packing. For items that are huge in size, like pants, skirts, and sweaters, all you need to do is to lay them face down. Afterwards, fold the sleeves of these clothing back, and make sure that everything is pretty flat, before you start to roll the item up from the bottom.

Well, quite frankly, during the time when I tried using this method of packing, I have managed to roll the wrinkles in. However, if you are using a deep bag like that of a backpack, this method will really work that you will be able to easily find each of your clothing as you search through the rolls of clothing.

Another common packing method is to take two or more garments, like two pairs of slacks, and put half of one pair on top of each other. Fold the one at the bottom over the pair that’s on top, and afterwards, take the one that has ended up on the bottom and then fold it over. This gives each pair some cushion so it isn’t folded as tightly… and the theory is that it’s less likely to wrinkle in the folds.

If we take this method of packing even further, you should be able to pack all your clothes with a bundle method. This method is just so easy. You just need to lay all your garments out flat on top of each other, and place something bulky at the middle of them, and this will serve as a “core”. And then, fold all of these garments in over each other, starting from the top and the side portion. This method may be ‘bulky’ and will consume bigger space so do this when you are not carrying too much luggage.

And again, since they’re not folded very tightly, the wrinkling of the clothes will be lessened. This method is preferable if you are going to unpack your suitcases while o the trip, like going on a holiday cruise. But for those travels that requires us to keep on moving from one place to another, this method will not work for you.
