Discovering the Hawaiian Island of Molokai

Are you all burn out and stress from work? Perhaps it is high time you have that long awaited vacation to refresh yourself. It is important that you choose a place where you can really relax, a place which will really catch your attention, worth to explore and most of all quite where you can really relax. So where can you find this place?

There is only one place that fits this description and that is Molokai. This is one island of Hawaii that has remained its traditional ways all these years.

This island of Hawaii is rich with cultural and natural landmarks which you can only find here. It has plenty of romantic spots which all lovers would really love. It also has white sand beaches and has great sites for snorkeling and scuba diving.

If you are tired of the busy city life, then Molokai is a welcome change with its peaceful atmosphere with no traffic at all. It has no building that is taller than a coconut tree and the streets have no traffic lights at all. This indeed is a great relief from all the stress you have in the city.

You can do a lot of things in Molokai, Hawaii and they have all the activities for all kinds of people. If you are one of those who love fishing then you are in the right place because Molokai is famous fishing destination not only in Hawaii but in the whole world. You will be surprise to discover that the island has endless scenic wonders to offer its visitors. You will find the world’s highest sea cliffs in Molokai, several magnificent waterfalls, a 28 mile coral reef and a great place for bird watching.

You will be amazed to discover that everything in the island is untouched and unspoiled. The beaches are deserted and you can marvel at its unspoiled beauty. Great spot to take your significant other and spend a romantic day. You certainly are free to do what you want without worrying that someone is watching you. You sure can enjoy being with nature.

They also offer tours to their green tropical rain forest. The Molokai Island can be explored through air, land and sea. They provide different kinds of tours that will bring you to some of the most famous attractions in the island.

If hiking is your favorite past time then you can go on hiking in the island. Surprisingly Molokai Island offer one of the best hiking trails through out the world. You won’t feel tired at all since you will be able to see the beautiful coastlines, and green valleys. Some of their hiking tours can even take you to some of their magnificent waterfalls.

Halawa Valley

If you love hiking then the Halawa Valley would be a great venue. Halawa valley or famous as the Cathedral Valleys is home to exotic animals and plants. It is also where you find plenty of hidden temples or locally known as heiau. For beginners and inexperienced hikers it is recommended to hire a guide to avoid getting lost or encountering any accident since the trail is quite difficult. But the reward after a tiring hike is at the end when you come to Moola Falls. This is one perfect place for picnic and a place to freshen up after a long hike. So make sure you are prepared and brought with you your swimming gears. This is the best way to finish off your hike that is to swim in the cool clear water.

Kalaupapa National Historic Park

Be prepared for you are going to ride a mule! It might be your first time to ride a mule so make sure to cherish this experience. It will be a long ride for the trail is 2.9 mile to reach this historic park. The ride might be rough sometimes for the mule will have to traverse the highest sea cliff in the world but it is all worth it for you will be able to marvel at the beauty of the mountains as well as the sea. Such beauty will really captivate you. This national park was once a home to Father Damien, a Belgian missionary who helped patients who suffers from Hansen disease.

Kaunakakai Town

If you want to spend your day lazing around then going to Kaunakakai town is your best option. You can take your love one there and of course bring along a picnic basket and just enjoy the day with your family. This quite town will bring you back to the old days. One thing you should not miss is to stop by in their famous bakery and grab some of their special breads. The Kanemitsu’s Bakery is famous for its onion and cheese bread which is a favorite of the tourists.

Kamakou Preserve

If you love nature then you should not miss this place. Make sure to put this on top of your list of places to visit in Molokai. This indeed is the pride of Molokai, the 3,000 acre of virgin forest which is preserved at the Kamakou Preserve. As you explore the forest you will discover that there are plenty of various rare plants as well as animals like the Olomao and Kawawahie birds which is near extinction. You cannot possibly find another virgin forest like this in other parts of the world.

If you love underwater adventure then you will love Kona Atlantis Submarine which can take you over a hundred feet under water. It will be a great opportunity to see the beauty underwater.

So if you are planning for your next vacation then do make sure to put Molokai, Hawaii on top of your list for places to visit. Here you will not just enjoy the sun and sand but you get to learn a lot too with their rich traditions and culture and get to see the unspoiled beauty of the Hawaiian island.
