The Forbidden City of Beijing was the Chinese imperial palace. The Forbidden City of Beijing existed during the time of Ming Dynasty until the end of the Qing Dynasty. Despite the changes and improvements that happen around it, the Forbidden City remains untouched. Although several shops are open inside the city walls like the Starbucks coffee shop, other cafes and gift shop. However some of the shops close down like Starbucks as part of the restoration of the Forbidden City.

While touring the place, you can rent an audio guide tour which explains certain temples ant their uses. It is very convenient for you to have the audio so that you will have all the information as you stroll along the different areas or section of the Forbidden City. You can see signs in places which are in Chinese and English so you can definitely find your way in and out since all the signs are written in both Chinese and English.

Forbidden City is indeed worth your time, you would be amazed at how it is design. The architecture is just magnificent with its huge courtyards with big well designed buildings and large gates dividing up the sections. You will also see beautiful sculptures. It would definitely take several hours to see the whole thing. Always stick to your map so you’ll get to see all the important section of the city.

You can buy souvenirs for giveaway when you get back home. There are several gift shops just inside the wall city. You can even enjoy a cup of coffee after the tour or have something to eat in their café. Despite the addition of this coffee shops and café and gift shops in the area, still it preserves its traditional image of the whole place.

If you plan to visit the place then it is recommended that you go there early even before the gates open at around 8:30 in the morning so that you can still stroll through the wide and beautiful courtyards in much peace. It will be much crowded later on the day so better come early and you can still have the whole place in private before the crowd starts to come in.

Besides The Forbidden city is right in the heart of Beijing so it is easy for you to come if you are staying in Beijing city. Beijing Forbidden city is also popular as GuGong or Palace Museum. You can reach the city through the subway line 1 either in the station of Tian An Men in the west or Tian An Men in the east.

A visit in China will not be complete without a tour of the Forbidden city in Beijing. The place certainly tells most of the history of China and its great sculpture and relics tell you much of the people of the ancient times. It is indeed marvelous to take a journey back in the ancient times and discover the traditions and culture of the ancient people of China.
