Planning a Trip to Phuket Thailand

If you are planning a trip to Thailand then Phuket is worth a visit while in this beautiful country. Phuket is Thailand’s biggest island with an area of about 626 square miles and is located in Southern Thailand.

Phuket is indeed a great place to spend your holiday with your love ones. But before going, make sure that you are knowledgeable enough regarding the place you are about to visit. You don’t need to get serious about it and take note of the information but as much as possible try to absorb all you can.

The unit of currency in Phuket is Thai Baht. Traveler’s checks are acceptable and can be cashed on the island and there are lots of ATM machines that accepts international card. Credit card can also be use to withdraw money from ATM although it may charge a fee. Also there are a lot of Money changers in the island but just be careful because it might take advantage and get high commissions out of it.

You can find that most people in Phuket speak a little English especially those who are in the business of selling where they are trying to sell you stuff. If you ever lost your way in Phuket then try to approach someone who is younger to ask for directions. Communicating with the olds might just confuse you more.

Getting around the island is easy but quite expensive. There are taxis that will take you from the airport to your hotel but it is against the law for them to pick up passengers on the street. Tuk-Tuks are available everywhere although the fares are expensive. Tuk-Tuks are three wheeled motorized vehicles that are useful for short distances travel. The fare for such is 40 Baht which doubles the fare for buses which is 20 Baht. If you know how to drive a motorcycle then better rent one for just 200 Baht a day.

When it comes to white sandy beaches and outdoor activities, Phuket certainly offers you the best of all. Tourists from all over the world come to Phuket to experience the beautiful white sandy beaches along with a world class accommodation resort that lined the palm beaches of Phuket. And when you have enough of the sun, you can go onto other activities that would surely entertain you like Phuket FantaSea Show or the Simon Cabaret Show.

You can go for outside activities like visiting temples like Wat Chalong and Phuket Temples or if you want to have a cool dip to escape the heat, then a visit to Phuket Waterfalls would do. You can also witness the grandiose festivals celebrated in Phuket like the Phuket Vegetarian Festival held late in September or early October, Chinese New Year, Songkran Festival, Loy Krathong and Phuket King’s Cup Regatta.

After a day full of fun what comes is a night full of entertainment. You can find various choices of fine restaurants where you can have fine dining with live music in the background. You can certainly choose whether to experience eating in the streets and shares table with locals and other tourist or dine in to one of the most popular restaurants in Phuket. Either way you will surely enjoy. When in Phuket you will discover that time flies so fast. Before you know it your vacation is over and its time to pack your bags.
