Enjoy Denver Vacation

The year 1858 saw the Pikes Peak Gold Rush which led to the foundation of the mining town of Colorado. Flanking the eastern boundary of the Rocky Mountains, Denver Colorado got its statehood in 1876. A young city by any standards, Colorado is now called the Mile High City.

This city and its border areas were inhabited by Cheyenne and Arapaho Native Americans during its early formative times. This gave the city its characteristic Wild West personality where dwelt the cowboys breeding their cattle along with miners crowding the saloons. And then there were Indians too who inhabited this area.

The Denver annual Pow Wow is the most important and well celebrated event of this place and is usually held in March. The dancing singing and festivity goes on for three long days. One gets to experience Native American wares and food in the market place that is set up to commemorate the festive occasion.

If one is looking for the right mix of nature and the feeling of a big city, then this town won’t disappoint you. The Denver Art Museum as well as the Colorado History Museum surely deserves to be visited, what with the exemplary exhibits of the present as well as past in the form of art and artifacts that can be viewed here.

The Mile High City is also a place where stuff that keeps spirits high is available aplenty. The Great American Beer Festival is a well known and well attended event of this city. This apart, the city also has a large number of breweries both local and national. Some of these breweries also offer tours of the city like the Coors and New Belgium Brewing Company.

For sport lovers also this city has its own set of athletes and sportsmen bringing laurels in all major sporting event of the world.

The Rocky Mountains are the most frequented tourist spots where one can avail of ski or snow boarding facilities all set up within the mountainous terrain. Hiking as a hobby for many also has its avenues here. Some could even take joy in the serene parks situated close to the city or just visit the city and enjoy its bubbling, beer frothing life style.

About 35 miles North West of Denver at the foothills of the Rockies lies Boulder, a little college town surrounded by open spaces and trails which makes it a breathtaking sight to behold.

Nature at its natural best can be experienced in the small town of Estes Park. The park with its spread of wilderness has been maintained at its natural state and gives its visitors the feeling of being close to nature. This is an apt place for relaxing within the folds of nature.  The town ship however leads to the Rocky Mountain National Park which provides for activities like back packing, climbing, mountaineering and all other sorts of winter sports. The Estes Park is a perfect place for you to stay if you are not particularly fond of camping.

Then there are a lot of skiing resorts that caters to the skiers and their interests. Winter Park Resort is the nearest at only 70 mile away from Denver while Aspen and Vail are other interesting areas to visit. Rocky Mountain Powder is something that can make skiers go wild.

The Buffalo Bill Museum gives us a taste of the old Wild West. About 30 minutes west of the city we also have the Grave in Golden where we get to experience the Wild West attitude that this place so well characterizes.

Denver Colorado will sure be in the itinerary of any mountain lover or for that matter, a lover of the American Wild West experience.
